Alligators and Crocodiles
The Everglades (Florida, USA) is one of the few places in the world where alligators and crocodiles live side by side. Crocodiles live in salty water while alligators (gators as the Americans call them) live in sweet water. The three main difference how to recognise them are that the eyes look different, with the gator you only see the top teeth while with the crocodile you see both top and bottom teeth and the nose of the crocodile at the front is triangular shaped, not so the gator. It is amazing that in The Everglades you can get as close as just 3 or 4 meters from them and they don’t harm you as long as you don’t provoke them. They are basically lazy animals and will happily lie on the side of the road watching everybody pass by.
